FCCB To Install New Hybrid Lift System

It is an exciting time here at the First Congregational Church of Bethel, as we welcome new members, pursue programs to spread our community outreach, and grow in our spiritual faith.  We welcome this renewal of church vitality, and we are committed to providing full access to our facilities for everyone!

To that end, the elevator provided by Waupaca Elevators, which was installed in the late 1990s, has been unusable since 2018.  At that time,  the Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall on this type of elevator.  As a result of the recall, the company declared bankruptcy without any corrective path for owners of these elevators.

Since that time, the unusable elevator has made it impossible for many to access our building for services or events.  The Trustees of FCCB, in an effort to fulfill our mission of No matter who you are or where you are in life's journey, you are welcome here, have committed to having a Symmetry Hybrid Lift system design installed.

What is a Hybrid Lift?

The Symmetry Hybrid Lift looks and feels like an elevator, but operates like a vertical platform lift.  Symmetry's Hybrid Lift features include a full height car, non-load bearing ceiling and other features.

How can you help?

The total cost of the new system will be $100,000.  FCCB has kicked off a campaign to raise $50,000 (or more) of the money through donations from our members, friends who utilize the building, and applying for grants.  Please help us in making our building accessible for everyone - your generous donation may be made as a one-time gift or a pledge over time.  You can make your donation online at  Hybrid Lift OnLine Giving  - you may also send your check, payable to FCCB, to the church at FCCB, 46 Main Street, Bethel, CT 06801.  You may also use the QR code below to go the Hybrid Lift giving site.

Thank you so much for your generosity!
