Restart Notice -- Phase in Approach

In an effort to keep our members safe and healthy, our building has been closed since mid-March.  At the May Cabinet meeting, our Leadership made the decision to reopen the building for group meetings, effective May 27, 2020.  In-Person Worship Service and All Youth Group meetings remain suspended and will be resumed as conditions develop during the summer and fall.  Our next Regular Worship Service is planned for November 22, 2020.  We are still checking phone messages and getting the mail several times a week.  The best way to contact us is by emait to:    fccbsecretary@firstchurchbethel.org

Director of Youth Ministries



The Director of Youth Ministries a part - time (20 hrs/week) paid staff position. 


(1) Lead Christian Ministry (Sunday School) and support teachers including periodic teacher gatherings.

(2) Organize and lead Sunday youth group activities/Christian Education.

(3) Plan and lead a weekly Sunday Children’s Message.

(4) Develop and oversee an annual mission trip supported by Senior High adult advisors.

(5)  Develop service projects for youth such as a Visitation Squad.

(6) Work with other churches and community organizations to develop community youth based programs, including Vacation Bible School and Bethel Community Earth Day.

(7) Utilize the computer lab for Sunday school, and develop youth and adult activities; maintain the Children’s Library.

(8) Monitor and keep track of youth activity hours for Carter-Tishkins-Slack scholarship.

(9) Work with pastor to develop a Confirmation class when needed.

(10) Develop new programming for children and youth.

(10) Attend monthly Church Cabinet meetings.


The Director will report to the Pastor and will be required to report and attend monthly church Cabinet (committee representatives) meetings.


The Director meets on a regular basis with the Pastor, Youth Advisors, Board of Christian Education Committee to develop ministry for youth including activities/mission planning.          


The Director (experience preferred) will demonstrate:

(1) Experience with youth ministries for all ages including, program development, planning and administration.

(2) A person of strong Christian faith whose values align with First Congregational Church of Bethel’s Open and Affirming Covenant.

(3) Active church membership in a mainline Christian denomination.

(4) A successful background check.

(5) Demonstrate good computer, communication, administrative skills and be willing to be trained in expansion of on-line church services.

Range $18 to $20 per hour. Negotiable (not including benefits) depending on experience.  First Congregational Church of Bethel is an equal opportunity employer.
