First Congregational Church of Bethel

Charlie Smith has been the church's sexton for over 10 years.  His loyalty and love for our church and our town reaches far beyond those 10 years. Charlie and his wife Pam have been members of our congregation since 1981. During those years they raised 2 daughters, Leslie and Michele. When his girls were young, Charlie worked on the softball fields in Bethel as a Tee Ball umpire (lovingly known to the kids as Mr.Tee).  He also coached a summer travel softball team. He is a charter member of the Connecticut Master Chorale and has proudly performed with them at Carnegie Hall, The Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and most recently in Washington D.C. at The White House. He loves reading, playing golf and has been a beloved member of FCCB’s Santuary Choir for almost 30 years, but what he is most proud of is his family. Charlie and Pam enjoy spending their free time with their daughters Leslie and Michele, Michele’s husband Alex and their 3 children Renae, Sara and Jenna. Charlie and Pam celebrated 45 years of marriage in September, 2015.
